At Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting, longtime Board member Ronda Shelby officially submitted her resignation, effective Thursday, December 18. The meeting marked the conclusion of Ronda’s remarkable 59 years of service to St. Marys City Schools.
Throughout her tenure, Ronda served the district as a Board member, educator, coach, and mentor to countless students and staff members. Her dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to St. Marys City Schools have left a lasting impact on our community.
The district will honor “Ronda’s Ripple Effect” during halftime of the home basketball game against Celina on Friday, December 19
Ronda's resignation leaves an opening on the Board of Education. St. Marys City Schools is accepting letters of interest from community members interested in serving on the district's Board of Education. Letters of interest may be mailed to andy.wilker@smriders.net by 4pm on December 26, 2025. Pending board approval, students in grades K-12 will not have school on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Our K-5 students already have the day off for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Pending board approval, our 6-12 students will now also have the day off to allow for a Professional Development day for teachers. Thanksgiving break for all students will now run from Wednesday, November 26th - Monday, December 1st, with students returning to school on Tuesday, December 2nd.
