With guidance from our local Health Department and the Ohio Board of Health we've established the following procedure:
Medical research suggests that a person with COVID-19 may be contagious 48 to 72 hours before starting to experience symptoms. The rule for the Ohio Department of Health is that anyone that is within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes for up to two days prior to the patient experiencing symptoms. For example if a student leaves school on Thursday at 11:00am, anyone that has been within 6 feet for 15 minutes of more from Tuesday on, must quarantine.
This includes all school events, including athletics and extra-curricular activities. Unfortunately, due to regulations from the Department of Health, even if your child is tested and the test results are negative, they may not return to school.
We determine if a child must be quarantined using seating charts. All students that were within 6 feet of a student who has contracted Covid for 15 minutes or more must be quarantined.
The student that is quarantined is the only person in your household that has been in close contact with the person who has tested positive for the coronavirus. Everyone else in your house may attend school and work, as appropriate.
Your child’s teachers will be informed of your child’s absence from school. They will contact your child with school-related information via email and/or google classroom.
When needed, we will make arrangement for books and materials to be picked up from school.
Our nurses and administrators will be happy to answer any questions that pop up. Please do not hesitate to ask.
